Guthrie Center was founded in 1856. The city is located 61 miles west of the State Capitol Building in Des Moines and 93 miles from the City of Omaha. Interstate 80 is located 15 miles south of the city. Over 1600 residents call Guthrie Center home.
The Guthrie County Courthouse, Guthrie County Hospital, Guthrie Center Schools (K-12), Mary J. Barnett Public Library, Guthrie County Fairgrounds, two city parks and the new Aquatic Center are located in Guthrie Center. The Guthrie County Regional Airport is located nearby.
